Early age

In 1597, Admiral Lee Sun-sin also won the Battle of Myeongnyang, another legendary battle. At that time, the Joseon navy's strength and morale were greatly reduced due to several defeats. Lee Sun-sin had to deal with a Japanese fleet of 133 ships with 13 ships. In this battle, Lee Sun-sin took advantage of the special terrain of the Myeongnyang Strait to lure and defeat the Japanese fleet. Lee Sun-sin's strategy of taking advantage of the strong currents in the strait threw the Japanese fleet into confusion, allowing the Joseon navy to take advantage of this opportunity and defeat the Japanese fleet.

This battle was one of the most dramatic victories in Joseon history. This incident once again proved Lee Sun-sin's courage and strategic genius. Lee Sun-sin successfully defended the last line of defense to protect Joseon's independence at the Battle of Myeongnyang. Death and legacy

Admiral Lee Sun-sin died in the Battle of Noryang in 1598. His last words were said to have been, “God still has twelve ships.” This showed his strong will and sense of responsibility. Lee Sun-sin's death was a great shock to the Joseon people, but his achievements and spirit were remembered forever.
